2012 Summer Conference

Tim Seelig, conductor of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, kept our ACDA members laughing, singing, stretching, and sharing insights in five sessions over two days of intense activity.  This year’s NJ-ACDA Summer Choral Conference drew almost 100 participants to a beautiful facility at Princeton Meadow Presbyterian Church for a variety of sessions, panels, networking opportunities, reading sessions, music, books and CD’s, and a general good time.  The Kinnara Ensemble, conducted by J. D. Burnett, gave us a challenging morning concert program marked by beautiful blend and line.  A major highlight was a Mozart Requiem Sing-In, co-sponsored by the New Jersey Choral Consortium and skillfully led by Rutgers Profession Patrick Gardner.

The many additional sessions were led by a number of seasoned New Jersey choral musicians, including NJACDA President Patricia Joyce, Patrick Gardner, John Leonard, Amy Troxel, Virginia Moravek, Jack Hill, Thomas Juneau, Carol Dory Beadle, Al Holcomb, Judith Nicosia, and Fred Ford.  Amanda Quist, joined by John Leonard and Christopher Thomas, coordinated a conducting master class of six collegiate conducting students.  Jack Ay of Musical Source, Inc. provided a large selection of choral music and books for perusal and sale, and Mark Recording provided a healthy selection of discounted CD’s.

This annual re-juvenating event was co-chaired by David Lockart and Jack Hill.  Amy Troxel served as conference registrar and Vice President Laurie Lausi organized the numerous and varied reading sessions.
Congratulations to all—well done.
