CHURCH POSITION: Director of Music

Part-time one-year interim appointment, up to 30 hours per week.

The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, a vibrant and growing 310-year old congregation in central NJ, is seeking a talented and energetic interim director to lead our music program. Our music program is an integral part of our worship experience and is a key aspect of our congregational life.

Duties include providing leadership for our Chapel Choir (selecting music, conducting rehearsals and directing choir in worship and special services); for the Lawrenceville Concertsingers (planning music and program for two annual concerts, leading rehearsals and directing the concerts); for the children's choir; and providing general oversight of all musical programming and activities for our church. Experience playing organ at services is an optional aspect of the position, and hours/compensation would be adjusted accordingly. 

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in music, familiarity with a variety of music but with particular skill in liturgical music, and have prior experience in a similar role.  You will receive competitive compensation as a half-time employee, and will join a collegial staff.  This is a one-year interim appointment to begin July 1, 2008.
