2010 Eastern Division Philadelphia Conference
February 10 - 13

Conference photos

This year’s Eastern Division Conference withstood the challenge of record snows and icy sidewalks.  In the end, nature’s challenges only elicited the resilience and flexibility of the conference committee, most ably headed by Division President Lynn Drafall, and of numerous ACDA members who stepped in to direct honor choirs, accompany and generously help out in myriad ways.  It was—no mistake—a wonderful conference.  For the intrepid many who made it to Philadelphia, there was an unprecedented wealth of concerts, readings sessions and clinics.  Helmut Rilling held forth with the concurrent Philadelphia Bach Institute, answered questions, and thrilled with a night of Bach at the Kimmel Center.  Conspirare, the elegant ensemble from Texas, performed exquisitely at Holy Trinity, and all but two choruses ensembles were able to sing to our friendly audiences.

The New Jersey delegation in Philadelphia was strong and supportive.  Among a large NJ delegation, twenty-four were actively engaged as Conference Committee members, performance conductors, reading session directors, clinicians, accompanists, and session hosts.  We would like to recognize these NJACDA member participants:

Conference Committee: David Lockhart, Performing Choirs, Judy Nicosia, Program, Marily Berrie, Men in the Middle, Ken Steele, United in Praise, Matthew Russell, face2face Coordinator, Debbie Mello, Helen Kemp Coordinator, Fred Ford, Presiders and Accompanists.

Performers: Christine Bass (Cherry Hill HS West Men of Note), Patrick Gardner (Rutgers Glee Club), Lorraine Lynch and Patrick Hachey (Roxbury HS Classic Sounds), Anne Matlack (Harmonium Choral Society), Rosemary Nagy (J.P. Case MS Tigerettes), Frances Slade (Princeton Pro Musica).

Reading Sessions and Clinics: Christine Bass, Heather Buchanan, Deborah Mello, Donald Morris, Michael Sanflippo, Maredia Warren.

Hosts: Laurie Lausie, Patricia Joyce, and committee members.

Accompanists: Steven Bell, Shawn Conlon, Matthew Russell, Helen Stanley, Fred Ford.
